Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories involve finding an instrument hidden in her attic and becoming fascinated with its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents, May Britt Aksnes, and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to take up music as a passion rather than as a job. Her parents inspired her to write. Her influences include renowned writers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in addition to her affinity with Bjork's style. To counter her mother's advice that people shouldn't be trying to be famous through the songs she writes, but rather realize the importance of themselves as well as their contribution to society. The piano was her first instrument, at six. She started writing music when she turned nine. The fact that she was a musician wasn't known to her family until she turned fourteen. Aurora was not a dream of her childhood. Her sole passion is to write music. She believes music can make anyone feel better.
