Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The label debuted her first album titled Pho in the month of October 2016, and she was able to gain recognition. The album that she released as her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first posted music online in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography and her mixtape debut in 2013, the mixtape Five Finger Discount. In 2014, she continued to upload her music via the internet including her independently release single Bound. The track Sweat it is included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21st, 2015. The following year, her music circulated all over the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some possible references for Rihanna. It was announced on December 8 that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October of 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and also performed as the opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. The year 2018 saw Ari Lennox appeared on two tracks with EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 she released her debut single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video for it was released on September 5th. The second single she released was Grampa on November 9. Then, in November 2013, she released No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on the 26th of February, 2019, for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared along with Cole in The Creed II sound track on November 16. This track, which was made available with a video on YouTube February 20, 2019 was watched more than three million times over the first seven days. The singer was a part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December 2018.
